The Best Life Diet
The Best Life Diet Book Review
The Best Life Diet, written by Bob Greene.
There were three main reasons I bought this book. First, it was towards the end of the year, and I thought I would get a jump on my New Year's Resolution of losing weight and trying to be healthier by having a plan before the new year started. Second, Oprah recommended this person and she actually uses Bob's services, so I thought that was a pretty good endorsement. Lastly, I was looking for more than just a "diet" book. Instead, I wanted to learn to change my habits so that eventually I could lead a healthier and better life.
There are many good points to The Best Life Diet, divided up into three phases that allow you to gradually change your eating habits, become more physically active, and improve your health and life.
-
Phase One.
Phase one is more about changing your eating habits and being more physically active. Bob talks about the different physical/activity levels and knowing at which level you are at in order for you to reach the next level. Going from one level to the next doesn't seem to be all that difficult--you just have to put some effort into it.
-
Phase Two.
Phase two is more about changing what you eat, eliminating the "bad" things for you, and about portion control. You can also increase your activity level. You also stay in this phase until you have reached your goal weight or within twenty pounds of your goal weight.
-
Phase Three.
Phase three is more about improving the quality of your diet for the rest of your life. You can leave this phase at any time, but the whole basis of this book is for you to stay in this phase, where you are eating better and healthier for entirety. In this phase, depending on your activity level and weight, a small percentage of your calories can be devoted to what you crave or desire.
As you are reading this book, you learn how the body and your mind works. You learn more about what the body needs, what the body is made up of, and why other "diets" do not work. You learn about different types of foods such as grains and fats. If you do the exercises as you are reading this book, you also learn more about yourself. Bob make you examine yourself in many ways such as: why are you hungry--is it emotional? Why do you want to lose weight--is it for better health? or to look better?
After reading this book, I do recommend this if you are trying to eat healthier. Bob takes you by simple steps to a better way of eating and health.
